If you’re not familiar with FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out), now you are. And we can bet that your little will suddenly develop this popular anxiousness tomorrow night as you celebrate the New Year. Have no fear, we’re here with ideas that your whole family can get in on to ring in 2020.
Include your children in a celebratory toast, with a mocktail, of course. Serve sparkling cider in a fancy glass and their night will be made. Let them make a toast, and you’ll make their whole year.
Countdown to Midnight
Our guess is that they’ll fall asleep long before the ball drops in Times Square, but that doesn’t mean that they should miss out on all of the fun and anticipation of the New Year. Or that everyone should be grouchy the next morning. Let your kids count down to a different time of the evening instead; after all, it’s the celebration of it all that gets them excited.
Got a sly one on your hands? Let us introduce you to the genius that is Netflix’ faux New Year’s Eve Countdowns. Just give it a quick search, do some celebrating and get everyone tucked into bed by 8:00PM.
Play Dress Up
Kids pick up on things, so they know that when you’re all dressed up that you’re probably headed out somewhere for an exciting adventure. Let them experience the thrill of getting dressed up (even if there’s nowhere to go). The sky is the limit… the fancier the better! Turn on some music and have a dance party to make the night even more festive.
As adults, we often scoff at the idea of resolutions but it’s important to show children the positive impact that some good old goal setting can have on our motivation and overall outlook. Whether you set intentions as individuals or as a family, make sure to include your kids in the conversation.
From our Show ‘N Tell School family to yours, Happy New Year!
