Did you know that a nut allergy is one of the most common food allergies? It’s not just peanuts (which are technically a legume), but also almonds, cashews, walnuts, etc.
For those who have a nut allergy, it can be a potentially life-threatening reaction and even small traces of exposure to the allergen can cause a reaction.
As of Monday, February 3, 2020, the Show ‘N Tell School of Paoli became a nut-free facility. In short, through eliminating peanuts and tree nuts from our school we can better ensure that our students are able to safely avoid the allergen.
We want our students to feel safe and for parents to know that their children are safe when they step inside of our school. That being said, we are opting to eliminate all varieties of nuts, both peanuts and tree nuts.
“The decision to eliminate tree nuts from our facility was recent made, as eliminating peanut butter would, understandably, potentially increase the prevalence of tree nuts, an allergen for some students.”
If your child is fortunate enough not to have a nut allergy, we still ask that they do not bring peanut or tree nut-based products in with them. Luckily, plenty of delicious alternatives are available such as Sun Butter or Wow Butter.
“We appreciate all families cooperating with this change and understanding the need to keep ALL off the children in our care as safe as possible!”
